Reimagined Romance

There is an undeniable magic in slow fashion. Taking a piece of clothing that has outlived its original purpose and transforming it into something fresh, feminine, and entirely modern is my favourite creative challenge.
Oversized men’s button-downs are the ultimate blank canvas. They are a goldmine of high-quality textiles—crisp cottons, structured collars, and classic weaves meant to last. Recently, I spent some time reimagining four distinct men's shirts into cropped, breezy tie-front blouses.

Built for Hot Summer Days
These tie-front designs are not just stylish; they are the ultimate summer wardrobe hack. The delicate keyhole closures at the front provide incredible ventilation, making them an absolute dream to wear on scorching hot days.
If you are worried about the cut-outs, don't be! There is absolutely no need for bashfulness. They layer beautifully over a simple bralette, keeping you completely covered while letting the breeze through. If you are feeling brave enough—or if you have a smaller bust—you can skip the undergarments entirely. The structured fabric and strategic tie placement keep everything perfectly in place.
Because each item is upcycled, these are one-of-one pieces—once they are gone, they are gone for good. Here is a look at the collection and how to style them this season.
The Keeper: The Pastel Check Blouse

The Design: I removed the collar for a clean, rounded neckline at the front and cut a square neckline at the back. The shirt was cropped to a more wearable length, and the excess fabric was used to make six tie fasteners. To give it a structured yet casual feel, I kept the hemline clean and straight, balanced by soft puff sleeves and two functional patch pockets at the hem.
How I'm Styling It: It has become my go-to uniform when paired with relaxed, wide-leg white linen trousers and tan leather slides. It is the ultimate effortless weekend look. It also looks great with dark denim.
For the Shop: The Reversible Royal Blue Stripe

The Design: This blouse features dramatic, voluminously gathered puff sleeves and a playful, flouncy frill along the cropped hemline.
The Secret Feature: It is completely reversible! You can wear it with the open keyholes and delicate bows at the front for a playful style, or spin it around to showcase a high, clean neckline with an elegant tie-back detail.
Styling Tip: This pairs perfectly with dark-wash denim trousers or a high-waisted denim skirt to let the bold stripes stand out.
For the Shop: The Red Candy-Stripe Peplum
If you love a classic vintage aesthetic, this candy-striped blouse is bound to be your favourite.
The Design: Mirroring the romantic silhouette of the blue stripe, this blouse features a gathered frill hem and soft, elasticated puff sleeves. It can also be worn with the ties at the back. The contrast between the structured vertical stripes and the soft, organic lines of the front ties makes it incredibly flattering.
Styling Tip: This looks striking when contrasted with voluminous white balloon pants or styled casually over denim shorts for warm summer afternoons.
For the Shop: The Pink Pocket Stripe

The Design: Unlike the peplum styles, this blouse features structural short sleeves and a clean, straight-cropped hem. It borrows the two functional front patch pockets from the checked style, aligning the stripes horizontally across the pockets to create a beautiful, intentional design detail.
Styling Tip: Lean into the tailored look by pairing this with structured white trousers and minimal gold jewellery for a polished, chic ensemble.
The Craftsmanship Behind Each Piece
Every single one of these blouses carries its own history and is entirely unique. Because they are upcycled from existing garments, they cannot be restocked or remade. This process not only breathes new life into forgotten fabrics but also champions sustainability.
I take pride in the craftsmanship involved in each transformation. The meticulous attention to detail ensures that every piece is not just a garment but a story waiting to be told. The fabrics I choose are carefully selected for their quality and character, allowing me to create pieces that resonate with those who appreciate thoughtful design.
Why Upcycling Matters
Upcycling is more than just a trend; it is a commitment to sustainability. By repurposing existing textiles, we reduce waste and lessen our environmental impact. Each blouse is a testament to the beauty of slow fashion, where every stitch is made with intention.
I believe that fashion should not only be beautiful but also responsible. By choosing upcycled pieces, you are making a conscious decision to support ethical practices and sustainable materials. This is a movement towards a more mindful approach to fashion.
Make sure to check the individual product pages for exact bust and length measurements ahead of time to secure your perfect fit!
